SLCP Verification Explained: The Converged Assessment Framework Step by Step

SLCP replaces repeated brand social audits with one verified dataset that many buyers can use. Here is how the Social & Labor Convergence Program works and how to get your facility ready.

Many factories host several social audits a year, each with its own checklist and its own corrective action plan. The Social & Labor Convergence Program (SLCP) was created to end that duplication. Instead of a pass/fail audit, SLCP produces one verified set of data about working conditions that facilities can share with every buyer. CR Global Assurance — known to many clients as CR Team — provides SLCP verification alongside our social compliance services. Here is what facilities need to know.

How SLCP differs from a traditional social audit

  • No score, no pass or fail. SLCP collects and verifies data. Each brand applies its own analysis to the verified data.
  • One assessment, many users. The facility owns its data and chooses who to share it with through an SLCP Accredited Host platform.
  • Facility-led. The process starts with the facility's own self- or joint-assessment.

What the Converged Assessment Framework covers

The Converged Assessment Framework (CAF) is a structured data-collection tool. Its sections include the facility profile, recruitment and hiring, working hours, wages and benefits, worker treatment, worker involvement, health and safety, termination, and management systems. Questions record facts — for example, how overtime is calculated or how workers raise grievances — and whether local legal requirements are met.

The SLCP process

  1. Register on an Accredited Host and start an assessment.
  2. Complete the self- or joint-assessment with evidence from payroll, time records, policies and safety documents.
  3. Choose a verifier body approved under SLCP and agree on dates. Verifications can be announced or semi-announced.
  4. On-site verification — document review, a facility tour, and management and worker interviews.
  5. Verified assessment — the verifier corrects data that does not match the evidence, and the report goes through quality assurance before the facility can share it.

Where facilities lose accuracy

  • Time records that do not reconcile with payroll, especially for overtime and night shifts.
  • Answers based on policy rather than practice — verifiers check what actually happens on the floor.
  • Incomplete records for contract, temporary or migrant workers.
  • Legal requirement fields left blank or answered with outdated legislation.
  • Grievance mechanisms that exist on paper but that workers do not know about.

Our grievance mechanism training and worker surveys help close the last gap before verification.

Preparing for SLCP verification

  1. Reconcile 12 months of attendance, overtime and payroll records.
  2. Collect personnel files for a sample of workers across departments and contract types.
  3. Update health and safety documents: fire drills, electrical and structural safety records, PPE issue logs and accident registers.
  4. Walk the floor with your compliance team and compare practice with each CAF answer.
  5. Make sure participants in worker interviews know they can speak freely.

Who owns SLCP assessment data?

The facility owns its data and decides which brands or organisations can see it through an SLCP Accredited Host platform.

Can CR Global Assurance verify my SLCP assessment?

Yes. CR Global Assurance (formerly CR Team Ltd) provides SLCP verification as part of its verification services. Submit an audit application to schedule.
