How to Choose a Third-Party Audit and Certification Partner in Bangladesh

Your audit partner affects buyer trust, certificate credibility and how much your team actually learns. Here is the checklist CR Global Assurance recommends before you sign with any audit or certification body.

Bangladesh's export factories face more audits every year: brand social audits, Higg FEM and SLCP verifications, ISO certification, C-TPAT, chemical management and, increasingly, ESG and carbon disclosures. Choosing the right third-party partner is not just a procurement decision — it decides whether the result is accepted by buyers and whether the process actually improves your operations. Below is the checklist we share with new clients at CR Global Assurance (formerly CR Team Ltd).

1. Is the body recognised for the specific scheme?

Different schemes have different gatekeepers. Higg FEM verification and SLCP verification require approved verifier bodies and individually qualified verifiers. ISO certification depends on accreditation and the auditor's competence for your industry code. Ask for evidence that the body and the named auditor are eligible for your scheme and scope — not just "an ISO auditor".

2. Does the team understand your sector?

An auditor who has spent years in garment, textile, dyeing and washing facilities will recognise risks in boiler rooms, chemical stores and ETPs that a generalist may miss. CR Global's auditors come from RMG, textile, environmental engineering and quality backgrounds, which is why our findings tend to be practical rather than theoretical.

3. How is impartiality protected?

A credible certification body separates consulting from certification, rotates auditors, declares conflicts of interest and runs an independent complaints and appeals process. Ask to see the policy — at CR Global Assurance it is public, and anyone can lodge a concern through our complaints and appeals page.

4. Can clients and buyers verify certificates online?

Fake and altered certificates are a real problem in global supply chains. Choose a partner that offers public, online certificate verification. Every certificate issued by CR Global Assurance or CR Team can be checked on our verification portal.

5. Is the reporting useful after the audit?

A good report gives clear non-conformities, objective evidence, root-cause prompts and realistic timelines. Ask for a sample (anonymised) report. If your team cannot turn the report into a corrective action plan, the audit has not done its job.

6. Can the partner cover multiple standards?

Integrated audits save production time. A single partner who can combine ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 into an integrated management system audit, or align a Higg FEM verification with a chemical management audit, reduces duplicated document requests and factory disruption. See the full range on our services page.

7. Is capability building available?

Audits find gaps; training closes them. A partner that also offers lead auditor, internal auditor, chemical management, C-TPAT and Higg FEM training helps your team sustain results between audits. Check the CR Global training schedule for current courses.

8. Is the pricing transparent?

Ask for a written quotation that shows audit days, auditor travel, report fees and any surveillance or recertification costs. Unexplained discounts or "guaranteed pass" offers are red flags — no credible body can guarantee an outcome before the audit.

Frequently asked questions

What is a third-party audit?

A third-party audit is carried out by an independent organisation — not the company itself (first party) or its customer (second party) — to assess conformity with a standard, code of conduct or regulation.

Can the same company consult and certify my factory?

A credible certification body does not certify management systems it has consulted on, because that would compromise impartiality. Training and audits are kept separate from consultancy.
